Tips For Future Duck Hunting Trips

Small Game HunterIf you are planning on going on duck hunting trips, you should learn the basics of duck scouting. You have to line up a number of options for hunting spots.

But, how can you find these spots? The obvious places to look for are: national forests, wildlife refuges, waterfowl management areas, large reservoirs and rivers, military reservations, and other public spots where ducks are commonly found.

If you are now provided with a secure line up of options, you can now learn these tips about duck hunting trips:

- Drift in a river on a small boat or a duck boat. Hunting pressure would rapidly scatter the neighboring ducks away from the swamps during the early part of the season.
- Hunt in a spot anywhere the game birds are. The weather and the water can reroute their major air travel off their typical migratory course.
- Journey through the roads at the back. The ducks depart early after they have been hunted away from the swamps.
- Make a hunting record. There are particular areas on a lake or a marsh that draw ducks at a particular time every year.

- Try hard to catch their attention. You can use the hail call only at extended range between four hundred to five hundred yards.
- Never blow too loudly because would just scare the game away. The call should be pointed down so that the sound will reflect or bounce against the water. Calling noisily right at the ducks may shock them.
- Consider carefully as to where the duck might fall. Never shoot at a duck when you cannot retrieve them. Be sure it will drop where you can reach.
- If you notice that game birds are landing beyond your range in a nearby spot, relocate your traps and set it up in a place the game birds would desire to be.
